The Fiat Coupe bodywork is finally getting done!

A year after I bought my Fiat Coupe 20VT and I’m finally getting the bodywork sorted. There’s nothing major that needs doing, but when you live with something day in day out, you tend to start noticing only the blemishes. Particularly when there are so many on my car. I swear the Fiat has body panels so thin that they bend if you so much as look at them in the wrong way. So, there are two dents on the bonnet to be sorted, plus the two bumpers are being sprayed as they have faded ever so slightly and don’t quite match the body colour (most people can’t see the difference, but I can and it annoys me). Then there’s the passenger door which has been liberally dented and some friend of humanity has keyed it all the way along the rear quarter panel, not forgetting the trolley scratch all along the rear wheel arch. The boot is in need of some lacquer repair. Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo - Part 3

I’ve clocked up another 4,000 miles in my coupe since my last post and it has been on the whole great fun. The clutch finally gave up and Roy at Auto Italiana in Exeter put in a new one for me. This did mean driving his yellow Cinquecento loan car for a couple of days, which had some good comedy value. The performance now without the slipping clutch is blinding.

Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo - Part 1
Posted by David Hurst in Fiat Coupe on January 10th, 2007
This month, I have been mostly buying under-rated Italian sports cars….. I picked up a lairy yellow Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo for a fair price on account of the fact that it needed a cam belt change and a little bit of minor body work. Given that I knew very little about these cars and am really flying blind, I thought it might be worth documenting my progress with the car to help any other Fiat Coupe newbies.
