I’ve finally fixed this annoying problem.
Users of Facebook will be familiar with the notification icon in the bottom right of the screen that lets you know when people have commented on your activity etc., and I’m guessing that if you’ve stumbled on this page then your Facebook notifications have stopped working too.
The fix is simple:
- Click on the notifications icon to open the Facebook notifications window.
- Click on ‘See All Notifications’ at the bottom.
- In the list of authorised applications on the right hand side, under ‘Other Applications’, tick the box next to ‘Feed Comments’
- Job done!
Yep, you never unticked the damn box in the first place. Who knows why this happens?

Hey I edited the notifications thing to suit my requirements and disabled the mails that I get everytime anyone commented etc. This is better now!

Do you know any reason why this is happening. I get FaceBook emails to my email address account saying someone has commented or did a tag or a status update comment etc etc.
So when I click on the email the red notification bottom right corner shows…10..and when I click on another email it goes to 9 and then I go to another email it appears 8. This is normal.
Then recently it hasn’t changed. Any reason why it is not removing or counting down?

Notifications bottom right stopped working as well as chat status not showing up for individual chatters. I have tried checking the feed comments box which was unchecked,tried updating my browser,deleting cache but nothing is working. I’m lost

I stumbled on your post because I’m having a notifications problem although it’s not this one. I can click on my notifications button, but cannot access the “see all” option and can’t get to the majority of the notifications that come up. This just started about two weeks ago. I have a MAC but it does it on my PC at work too. Any suggestions?

I have another problem, but related to the one mentioned here. I do not receive any email notification since a few weeks. I found on the internet that i am not the only one who has that issue, but it seems that nobody has a solution. I checked everything: FB settings, firewalls, spamfilters, ….

Hi. I’m using the new facebook version, with the notifications at the top, but it’s not working. When I open my notifications window, they try to load but fail. An error comes up and says “Something’s gone wrong. We’re working to get it fixed as soon as we can.” I’ve tried to go directly to the notifications URL, but that does not work. Your advice is no longer applicable with the new facebook layout. Do you have any suggestions? Email me. This post was written some time ago, and Facebook has changed its layout at least twice since then.
I’m having problem with my notification. When I go in the page..and click the back button. The whole facebook and IE closes down. I have to reopen IE..and access facebook. I always go in a friend’s facebook to click the notification tab. Does it matter if I have IE 6? Had it for years.

Could you pleaase confirm if the feed solution you provided earlier in this post is still working. When i go to page “facebook.com/notifications.php”, it shows “You have no notifications” even though my wall is has many commnets, replies and posts

Bear in mind that this post was written a couple of years back, and the design of Facebook has since changed. The notifications have moved to top left.
David i did find it on the top left – but I canot find other applications or feed comments
Like I said, everything has changed. I can’t go back and change every post I write every time Facebook decide to do something differently.
Why not try clicking on Account top right, then Account Settings, then Notifications from the menu on the left…?
Yeah, with the new design, who knows where that function is. It seems as if the purpose “Notification Settings” now is only to toggle email notifications.

I followed directions exactly. Looking in “other applications”, I don’t see feed comments, in the choices? I’m trying to be able to see notifications scrolling on main page just above chat list. Other people have this, I don’t.
