How to run Football Manager 2009 in a window on Mac OS X

I was very frustrated to find that you cannot set Football Manager 2009 to run in a window from the in-game preferences as you could with previous versions. I’ve figured out a quick fix using Terminal (which you will find in your /Applications/Utilities folder). Type (or copy and paste) the following command into Terminal to launch Football Manager 2009 in a window:

/Applications/Sports\ Interactive/Football\ Manager\ 2009/fm.app/Contents/MacOS/fm -windowed -small_screen

There’s a more user friendly way of doing this, which I’ll explain at another time. For now, I’ve got teams to manage…

  1. I succesfully download Football Manager 2009… it did open at first then l got a message which indicate
that there is a graphic problem. Can you help me to sort out the problem. Thanks in advance.

  2. You “downloaded” FM 2009? As opposed to purchasing it?

I didn’t write the game and can’t provide support for it. If you have in fact purchased the game, contact Sports Interactive for support and I have no doubt they will be pleased to help you. If you didn’t buy it, well you can’t expect support with stolen goods.

  3. You can run fm2009 in a window on the mac it is in the display options included with resolutions

  4. Didn’t see that on mine. Although now I have upgraded to 9.2 it’s there.

Still, the example above will help anyone who needs to load it in a window the first time they run it. You only need to do it once and it will be windowed forever more.
