Frankly, it’s hard to not see bad intention. Actually I think most of us want to see that on Taylor. It’s too reckless, and maybe too dumb on him so I can’t avoid to think as a dirty play. I may agree that he didn’t want to break his leg, but if so, it just show how dumb he is. He KNEW the risks. A professional player can’t lose his head like that. Mistime? Don’t think so. If you play football you know that you can avoid a gross tackle like that. It’s completely unnecessary.

If someone is playing dirty, then they are playing with the intent to break the rules or hurt somebody. Taylor wasn’t playing dirty, he just lost his head and made a mistake. It happens all the time in football - most times the receiving player does not get injured, much less suffer such a nasty injury. Should we ban all players for a year if they perform this sort of challenge, or should we only punish those that end up hurting somebody?

Personally, I’d like to see all reckless challenges, regardless of consequence, immediately punished by a red card. Any ban should then be based upon whether the player was trying to play the ball or not.

How can you say its wasnt dirty when his foot was above the ball. He obviously wasn’t going for the ball otherwise he wouldn’t have caught his shin. It was mis-timed but that doesn’t exclude the intent to hurt him, however i highly doubt he meant to cause that injury. Eduardo wasn’t moving at speed so he knew what he was doing. I hope Eduardo plays again, and it would be a good idea for Taylor to be banned until Eduardo returns.

i dont think its fair 2 say ban taylor for a yr! 1stly u sw hw upset he ws wen he sw wt hd hppned. 2ndly he went in 1 footed. 3rdly he dint lung or nethin like tht. 4thly it was simply mistiming and unlucky timing, mistimed chalenge at the exact moment eduardo put all his weight on his leg causing it to break. IMO no malicious intent but wen u play a physical game like football thers always going to be injuries, just unfortuneately this one was a horrific 1 but nt ment! gud luk 2 the lad tho of cours!! i hope he plays agen!

horrible tackle he needs to be banned 4 at least 1 year and maybe taken to court for GBH.if anyone had done that on the street they would b doing a stretch

It was a reckless challenge, but it wasn’t dirty. Taylor was going for the ball, but he mistimed it and made a big mistake. Stupid and he should know better.

I hate challenges like this when I play football. There’s no need for it and maybe people will now understand how easy it is to make a mistake and create an horrific injury such as Eduardo’s.

Reports today are confirming the double compound fracture and that Eduardo has had surgery. I’ll be surprised if he recovers from this one though.

It WAS a dirty play, there is no reason to tackle in that position. Eduardo was barely moving. His feet were planted in the turf. A very nasty and malicious tackle. Eduardo is just standing there with the ball in his feet, looking for options to pass the ball. Taylor just goes and tackles him while he is holding the ball between his feet, he is barely moving. I say : ban taylor from the fields untill Eduardo is fully recovered. That will teach him.

I had an injury like Eduardo suffered today. I broke the leg, shin, and ankle. I played top flight college football here in the States. I never could recover. God, I hope Eduardo can recover.
